Rahmat (b.1994) is a dancer, choreographer, and actor currently pursuing his Master’s degree, having completed his Bachelor of Arts at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Padang Panjang. His physical strength and technical discipline drive his practice across both acting and bodily-practice performances.
In his somatic practice, Rahmat draws inspiration from the relational dynamics between technology, the public, and systems. His work frequently emphasizes systemic experiences, exploring themes such as the distracted body, chaos, system errors, and the duality between virtual and physical timelines. He is known for his accelerated choreographies and the incubation of “currents” within dance tempo techniques. Furthermore, Rahmat’s empirical background in computer network engineering from his earlier studies deeply informs his artistic approach, allowing him to bridge the gap between technical systems and the performing arts in innovative, cross-disciplinary ways.
