Yama (Sihan) Li is a Los Angeles–based interdisciplinary artist, animator, and creative technologist working across experimental animation, computational media, and immersive installation. She holds an MFA in Experimental Animation from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and a BA in Design Media Arts from UCLA. Her practice explores fluidity, embodiment, spirituality, and the shifting relationship between human bodies and natural environments. Drawing from Buddhist philosophy, queer experience, and East Asian cultural imagery, she uses digital simulation, motion capture, dance, and moving image to create works in which bodies and landscapes continuously dissolve, migrate, and transform. Her work has been presented through exhibitions, screenings, and public media contexts including Night Lights Denver, CultureHub LA’s Re–Fest, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and CalArts. She also works across curatorial and collaborative practices, creating interdisciplinary experiences that bring together moving image, performance, sound, and emerging technologies.
