Alain Lioret is a researcher, artist, and professor at Université Paris 8 in Paris, where he works for “Arts et Technologies de l’Image” program. His academic work spans quantum computing, 3D graphics, generative art, and digital visualization, with a particular focus on the intersection of scientific computing and artistic creation.
With roots in French computer graphics culture dating back to the early 1990s — including contributions to major French computer magazines — Lioret has consistently worked at the frontier of emerging technologies. He is the author of the long-running Beings project series, a decades-long exploration of generative art systems evolving from classical computational methods to quantum-enhanced approaches. His current research, notably the Life Beings: Living Quantum Art project, investigates the creative potential of quantum algorithms applied to living, evolving visual systems. He teaches at the Master’s level, bridging rigorous scientific foundations with innovative artistic methodologies.
