Dr. Iannis Bardakos is a hunter-gatherer of forms and non-localities, an artist, researcher, and Assistant Professor at Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU). He previously served as Program Director of the Roy Ascott Technoetic Arts program in Shanghai. He holds a degree in Mathematics and a double PhD from the Athens School of Fine Arts and Université Paris 8. His research explores theoretical and practical amalgamations of art, technologies, mathematics, aesthetics, biology, cybernetics and processes, . His work investigates technoetic and computational artistic practices, emerging aesthetic modalities, experimental systems, and evolving relations among artificial, biological, and technological processes. Through theoretical, speculative and practice-based research, he explores new possibilities for perception, cognition, artistic creation, and aesthetic experience. He is an editor of Technoetic Arts: A Journal of Speculative Research, a member of the American Society for Cybernetics and the Glitch Art community, and one of the recipients of the latest Pixel Art Prize.
