Isaac Kerlow

Isaac Kerlow (可一笑) is an artist and independent filmmaker whose work is tightly related to digital technology. A main theme in his work is the reinterpretation and revitalization of Mexican cultural heritage through digital technology. He was founding chair and tenured professor at the Department of Computer Graphics and Interactive Media at Pratt Institute in Nueva York, and has been active at SIGGRAPH since 1983 (Art Show chair in 1991, Interactive Entertainment chair in 1995, and Computer Animation Theatre chair in 2010). He is also founding dean of the School of Art, Design and Media at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, where he lived from 2005 to 2019. His book “The Art of 3-D Computer Animation and Effects: has been a standard reference in higher education of computer arts and computer animation, and he has received international awards for his creative work including the National Research Foundation’s Interactive Media Award in Singapore, and the AXA Research Fund Award in Paris, in addition to multiple awards at international film and animation festivals.
