Dr. Mingyong Cheng is an Atlanta-based new media artist, researcher, and creative technologist, and an Assistant Professor at Georgia Tech’s School of Arts, Entertainment, and Creative Technologies. Her practice spans generative AI, interactive installation, audiovisual performance, moving image, and computational media. Grounded in her framework of Speculative Ecology, she explores human-AI co-creation through cultural memory, ecological perception, embodiment, and more-than-human intelligence. Cheng creates immersive environments where bodies, images, sound, data, and intelligent systems interact in real time, while also developing creative technologies for museums and performance. Her work has been presented internationally at venues including the San Diego Museum of Art, Jacob’s Pillow, SIGGRAPH, NeurIPS, ISEA, and the IEEE CVPR AI Art Gallery. She holds a PhD in Visual Arts from UC San Diego and an MFA from Duke University.
