Sang Chi Liu
I am a black feminism media artist and aesthetics theorist. My computational performances, texts, videos and installations have revolved around the relationships among diaspora politics, unnamed violence, technological embodiment, and computational aesthetics. My works often come with humorous elements and engage with feminist and decolonized perspectives, showcasing my observations and fantasies about the absurdity of the algorithmic landscape. My recent research and writing has focused on the possibility of decolonizing the aesthetics of 3D modeling and humanoids. I am a current PhD student in the Computational Media, Arts, and Cultures program at Duke University. My work has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei, National Taiwan University of Art, and the Progress Gallery, LA.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Blanca Bercial, Dana Mulligan, Ema Hsiao, Famous Meteorite, Indigo Cook, Kelsey, L. Chen, Mark Hansen, Mark Olson, Natalia Cervantes, Nicole, Rachel Tay, Salty Ian, Sarah Aintelope, Shiraz Ahmed, Ting-Yu Cai, Vivek Joseph, Xiaoice, YI-CHIA, CHAN., S1 Lab, Theory of Corporeality (with Sarah Wilbur), Computational Media Arts and Cultures, and many others who do not want to be mentioned for their invaluable contributions and support writing their tributes.
