Yiou Wang is a multimedia artist whose practice centers on multisensory storytelling and worldbuilding across physical and virtual realms. In a fresh and innovative use of real-time and animated mediums, Yiou’s practice blends ancient mythology and cutting-edge technology, forming new visions of interconnected worlds of life we live in. Coming from art and architecture backgrounds, Yiou creates artistic ecosystems, comprising CGI, interactive performance, XR/VR experiences, immersive installation, audio visual, and digitally fabricated sculpture. Yiou is the co-founder and creative director of Mixanthropy Studio, a multidisciplinary art-tech studio creating ancient future myths in artistic expressions using emergent technologies. Yiou’s art has been exhibited and screened internationally, including New York, Boston, Montreal, London, Shanghai, Malmö, Bucharest, Quito, and Addis Ababa. Yiou has delivered artist talks at SIGGRAPH and universities in Montreal. Yiou’s recent exhibitions include Torrance Art Museum, SXSW, MIT Museum, Asian Media Arts Festival, and New Museum of Networked Art.
