Yiou Wang is a multimedia artist/designer whose practice centers on multisensory storytelling and worldbuilding across physical and virtual realms. Blending real-time and animated mediums, Yiou’s interdisciplinary research and practice investigates the intersection between mythology and interactive technology such as motion capture and mixed realities (MR), forming new visions of interconnected worlds we live in. Coming from art and architecture backgrounds, Yiou creates artistic ecosystems with translational capacities between different mediums, including CGI, interactive performance, XR game, immersive installation, audio visual, and digitally fabricated sculpture. Yiou is the co-founder and creative director of Mixanthropy Studio. Yiou’s work has been globally exhibited, with recent exhibitions including Torrance Art Museum, SXSW, MIT Museum, Asian Media Arts Festival, and the New Museum of Networked Art; among Yiou’s accolades are the Muse Gold Design Award, a shortlist nomination of S+T+ARTS Prize, Best Animation in Experimental Music & Dance Film Festival, and the Red Dot Award.
