Irmandy Wicaksono, Ph.D. is a transdisciplinary scientist, engineer, artist, and designer. He is an Assistant Professor (Presidential Young Professor) at the NUS Design, where he directs the Soft Technologies Lab. He received his S.M. and Ph.D. in Media Arts and Sciences from the MIT Media Lab, and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from ETH Zurich.

His research explores soft and wearable technologies, with applications in health and well-being, human-computer interaction, and interactive media. Through digital fabrication and functional textiles as a media, he is passionate in bridging art and science with design and engineering. Irmandy’s work has been published, exhibited, and featured internationally, including in Nature, ACM, IEEE, Burning Man, and the World Economic Forum. His recognitions include Forbes 30, MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35, the Lexus Design Award, and the Schnitzer Prize in the Visual Arts.
