Description:
Genetic Identity takes the artist’s own sequenced genetic data as source material and passes it through a generative image model, tracing what happens as a personal biological record is metabolized by a system trained on everyone else’s images. Across successive prompt iterations, the sequence drifts from recognizable molecular diagram toward spun-sugar filament and finally to a rainbow latticework bearing no forensic relation to its origin. The work treats this drift as evidence: a method for surfacing the latent associations a model holds about “DNA,” and a question about what remains of the self once identity is rendered as training-adjacent data.
