Simulacra Naturae – Neuro-Ecologies: Micro-Scale Brain Organoid Neural Dynamics into Macro-Scale Urban Spaces

Description:

This bio-digital installation translates electrophysiological activity and two-photon microscopy imaging data from a brain organoid into an audiovisual composition. Three artificial-life simulations (boids, Physarum, and termites) trace biological themes of emergence, connection, complexity, and dissolution that parallel urban organization and day-night rhythms. Act I (Genesis): termites and boids lay foundational network architecture. Act II (Synaptogenesis): Physarum networks self-organize. Act III (Peak Criticality): peak activity from all three simulations mirrors the organoid’s bursting activity at the edge of chaos. Act IV (Entropic Rest): flocks and Physarum networks fade into the termite foundational lattice. Between acts, ecosystem resets echo refractory rest.
