Amalia Foka
Amalia Foka, a Greek-born Artificial Intelligence researcher, interdisciplinary artist, and educator, delves into the fusion of computer science and art. Her experimental works leverage AI methods and data to explore new creative dimensions. Her contributions have been showcased internationally, including in the Leonardo Journal (MIT Press), WRO Media Art Biennale, ISEA, and CVPR AI Art Gallery. Notably, she earned the Arte Laguna Special Prize for a residency at the Bilpin International Ground for Creative Initiatives (BigCi), Australia. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor in Computer Science: Multimedia Applications for the Arts at the School of Fine Arts, University of Ioannina, Greece, she imparts knowledge on creative coding, interactive systems, and generative AI art. Amalia holds a BEng in Computer Systems Engineering (1998), an MSc in Advanced Control (1999) from UMIST, UK, and obtained her Ph.D. in Robotics (2005) from the University of Crete.
